Our 40th

Our 40th wedding anniversary was on Sunday (June 7). For the most part it was like most of our other anniversaries, filled with activities that have to do with the time of year rather than our anniversary. The first part of June is always full of graduation open houses, weddings, festivals, parties etc. As a result our anniversary is normally punctuated with going and doing, usually too much going and doing. Now that I think about it we are going and doing kind of people and therefore should expect nothing less.

Saturday we went to an art festival at Winona Lake with some friends from Church. We have always enjoyed art and often include going to galleries and art shops when we travel. We usually jointly agree that the new ceramic bowl or the little print is just right as an anniversary gift to each other. It is actually a nice way to commemorate the day. The art festival was nice the weather was perfect, we had a good time and ended the day with a cook out at our place. We did pizzas on the grill, one of our new tricks.

Karen has been planting flowers all spring. Most of them are really looking nice already.

On Sunday after Church, since the afternoon was going to involve going to a graduation open for one of the young ladies from our Church, we hurried home had hotdogs on the grill (typical intimate celebration for us). In the evening we went up to Karen’s mom’s place for cake and ice cream. Blake, Apryl and the boys were there for a while and we had a nice visit with them.

Happy Be-lated anniversary. I actually thought about it last Sunday and was planning to give you a call on, but apparently my memory is slipping. Great to see you had a nice weekend together.
