Fall 2012

Shortly after getting back from out vacation in late September there was a youth hunt for deer.  I went with Trae and sat in a ground blind for a couple of hours one evening.  Since I would not be carrying a gun I decided to take my camera in hope of documenting the hunt.  It was a beautiful late afternoon, the woods had filtered light that caused some interesting patterns on the trees and ground.

We saw lots of animals, but no mature bucks.  This small deer came so close that we could have almost reach out and touched it.

A few weeks later the leave began to really change.  We thought about taking a quick trip up into Michigan, but it didn't work out with our schedules.   One Saturday Afternoon in October we went over to Pisgah and caught it in bright autumn color.

The photo below is of an Ash tree that is one one of my bicycling routes, on the east side of Ridinger lake. Ash trees are in trouble from the emerald ash bore and will most likely disapear from the Indiana landscape.  The nice yellow to orange to purple blend will be missed in the array of fall color.

We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner at my mothers place with part of our family and some friends in attendance.

Plenty of good food and a lot for which we are thankful.
