Super weekend

Saturday morning started out with the usual waterski trip at daybreak followed by the big breakfast on the deck.

After the breakfast club broke up I went over to mow the lawn at Clarice and Jon’s. Later that morning I decided to take my old bicycle into the bike shop for some badly needed maintenance. While we were there I picked up a extra used bike for grandkids to ride.

Next we went to a different bike shop to see it there was a bike that was suited for Karen to ride. We ended up with a couple of hybrid bikes that seem to be appropriate for a couple of old duffers. We had lunch in at a bakery that sells really good bread and headed home with one bike.

In the afternoon we went out on the lake and tied up with Blake Apryl and the boys. We had a good time swimming and lounging about on the pontoon boats. Skyler was suffering with a pretty bad headache, but he eventually recovered.
After the lake activities I headed back into town to recover two more of bikes that wouldn't fit in my car.
Later that evening we went over to Blake’s to disassemble the rest of the deer stalls in his garage and to make room for his '66 Ford Truck project.

On Sunday afternoon we hung around home enjoying the first summer weather that we have had this year and later in the afternoon we went on an eight mile bike ride.

Beginning of August

The Beginning of August brings a lot of activities into our lives. In addition to the Church activities including deacon's meetings, praise group practices, church softball and such there is Karen's birthday, the annual Harris Family reunion, and nice weather to get out on the lake. We went to an art festival and had a couple of short road trips. This year our friends from Minnesota came for a visit. Marti went to High school with Karen and me. Tom and Marti are in full time ministry with Navigators.

Andrew and Adelphia came over in Clarice and Jon's the '69 Firebird. Andrew has been redoing the engine, transmission, brakes etc. while Clarice and Jon are in Australia. Andrew, Adelphia and the kids were able to spend some time on the lake.
We were also able to get over to a summer picnic at a lake house of a couple from Church along with several other folks from Church. The big event this year though was Karen turning 60. We got up early on her birthday so she could ride over to Fort Wayne with me, and she spent the day with Adelphai and the Kids. We all had lunch together at Pizza Hut. On the way home we picked up flowers that Clarice sent to Karen and when we got to the house there was another flower arrangement that her brother sent to her.
We took our old gray Pontiac into Warsaw and had dinner at a restaurant that we both like and had a picture take to record the event.
We had a nice evening on the lake Wednesday, with Blake's and Noel's family, all the guy's water skiied or wakeboarded. We finished the evening with a cookout
Karen and I have been walking in the evenings (3-4 miles) and have seen some really nice sunsets and have enjoyed the nice cool evenings. We are both trying to get in shape for our vacation in September.

End of July

The last week of July was really busy. I had all the normal meetings and projects at work, plus a half day management meeting and a full day of interviewing for a consultant for our next construction project at IPFW.

I played softball on Tuesday night and then had to go back to IPFW at 1:00 AM for a hog roast for the third shift custodians and police. This was an annual event that makes for a really long day.

Karen called me Wednesday morning to say that she was going to be playing in a softball game on Apryl's city league team. I have some evidence below that she really did play left center field. Apryl's team was short of players by 5 and needed to recruit some help. Apryl's mom also played in the game at first base.

Saturday morning we ahd our usual ski outing. here are some pictures of Blake bare footing, Skyler wake boarding and Blake skiing.

After the ski trip Skyler, Trae and I went over the IPFW campus for a car show. I was asked to be a judge for one catagory. There were about 500 cars on site and we had a really good time.

On Sunday after church Karen and I went to an art festival in Chesterton. One of our firends, Pam from church, went with us. It was a really nice day weather wise. the art show was very good and we even bought some art objects. We got home in time to have dinner with couple of college students from Grace that attend our Church and have been hanging out with us once in a while. We did pizzas on the grill and visited until way after dark.
