Labor Day Weekend 2009

We had a relatively quiet Labor Day weekend. Saturday morning I went with Blake, Skyler and Trae to a wildlife reserve in northeast Indiana on a youth dove hunt. Both Skyler and Trae have been to hunter's camp and are showing signs of enjoying in the field, marsh and woods as much as Blake and me. The youth hunt was sponsored by Pheasants are Forever hunting club. They provided lunch, and snacks for the day, provided a box of shotgun shells for clay target shooting and one for hunting in the field for each youth. There were about 15 young people at the event and plenty of adult supervision.

At the End of the day the boys both got some birds and we had a very nice day in the field.

Karen and I went out for several bike rides over the weekend. We have extended the riding to ten miles or so. In our area you can't get very far from the house and you begin to encounter hills. Some of the hills are admittedly long and grueling. Once we are back to the house Karen says that wasn't so bad, while struggleing up some of the hills not so much. She kept claiming that I was just trying to cash in on the insurance policy. maybe it was because we stopped by an old country cemetary dating back to 1815 or so.

We also got in several walks and spotted some nice flowers along the way.

This summer I have gotten back into doing some water colors. I posted some earlier. Here are a couple that I finished up over the weekend.
