The Great Ocean Road: Port Campbell and back to Sydney Oct. 6, 2009
Since we had been to the Twelve Apostles National Park the evening before we thought that an early morning sunrise would be really cool, and it was really cool and rainy. The sunrise didn’t look too promising, but there were some pretty spectacular views with the moon shining through the clouds and off of the water. Because of the low light conditions my shots of the moon came out a little out of focus. Jon had a tripod and got this first picture that is really nice.

You can see that Karen was not exactly blending into the landscape that day. You can also tell that it was not all that warm. I was wearing a sweat shirt.
While waiting for the sun to rise and or the moon to pop through a crack in the cloud cover.

Look in the sky, it’s a bird…it’s a plane… it’s a, what is that? Oh maybe it's the sun.
We stayed around for a little while and realized that the weather was not going to get much better so we headed on down the road. We went back to our rooms, showered, loaded the car, and went out for breakfast. Then we went a ways on further out on the Great Ocean Road.
We made several stops at other points of interest and did a couple of trails out along the cliffs. Saw some interesting rock formations.

As we looked to the southwest all we could see was storm clouds, so we made the decision to head back to Melbourne cross country where it sort of looked like the sun was shining.
