Narabeen and Cairns October 10-11

Oct 10

I spent the morning in Clarice and Jon's apartment, in Narabeen, working on "Parting the Water" the Israel accounts. Mom and Clarice went shopping in preparation for our trip up to the Great Barrier Reef the next day. I went for a short run on the beach in the middle of the day, saw some nice scenery and enjoyed the sun. In the evening we went to dinner at the home of some friends of Clarice and Jon from their Church, Steve and Julia. Steve is a contractor in the area. Their house is on a great site on a high point with a view of the ocean above Narabeen beach. But like most contractor's houses is a work in progress.

First thing Saturday morning we headed off to the airport to fly up to Cairns Australia. Cairns is in Queensland which is the provence at the northeast corner of Australia and in the direction of the equator, therefore, warmer and more tropical. Cairns is one of the places where tours out to the Great Barrior Reef originate. More on that in the next post.

We have arrived at Cairns after a four hour trip.

After renting a car we made our way to where we were staying. We had a little cabin in a resort park near a pool. We loaded in the our luggage and head into town for lunch, site seeing and to confirm where we would link up with the Reef tour the next day.

We walked around the down town area near the Lagoon swimming area and passed some booths with art and craft stuff and then stopped at restaurant on the strip for pizza.
